We depend on our donations from the public to bless us so we can bless others. We live in a time with vast differences in incomes and struggles. Our mission is to be able to give our clients ‘one less thing to worry about’. We also focus on bullying issues with children.
If our wonderful community is able to donate clothing in very good condition, people are changed, children are more confident about themselves. People are not as self-conscience about their appearance. It’s easier to ‘blend in’ and feel good about yourself. Children, in school, aren’t picked on or bullied as much if they ‘blend in’ better. Less stress can create smarter kids. To some people, its just clothes, to parents, it’s a blessing.
At Threads, we accept donations on Tuesdays, 11-6, January through November. Occasionally, we need to put out our ‘full’ sign, when we get too full to handle it. Our volunteers are almost all over 65 and nobody is paid. We are all 100% volunteers.
What we accept? We accept merchandise in clean, very good to new condition. We have so much respect for our clients and want them to feel that respect. It really brings up their spirits to come into Threads. Clothing, shoes, purses, linens, housewares, knick-knacks, toys, books (remember it’s a Christian mission), scrubs, personal care items, tons of other items that people would love to receive. You can always call and ask.
We do not accept T.V.s (unless they are flat-screen and in working condition), old computers/monitors, large appliances, furniture or old magazines.
We also have an EMERGENCY CENTER on site. We are contacted by fire departments and police departments in most of these cases. This is for victims of fires, flooding and for assisting foster parents in emergency cases with new children. These donations need to all be new products. We want victims to know that they will have things to keep as they are in a horrible transitional time in their lives. We always need small appliances, such as toasters, crock pots, small grills, electric skillets, can openers, coffee pots, small microwaves. Also needed, baby items, diapers, women's personal care items, shampoos, razors, soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. Other items include kitchen towels, bath towels, shoes of all sizes, underpants from the smallest child to the largest adult sizes, t-shirts, bras, gently used steel to boots and non-slip shoes. New blankets from crib size to king and sheets.
If you are able to donate gift cards for us to use for these emergency cases, that’s wonderful. We can give them cards for things we don’t have in stock. Cards from Walmart work the best in these cases.
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE DONATIONS THAT YOU BLESS US WITH.
